The Penguin’ Finale Episode 8 Recap: Did Oz Kill Sofia?

 In episode 7 of Penguins, we learn in a flashback the reason for Jack and Benny Cobb's death. Apparently, Oz was jealous of his mother Frances having to divide her attention between his job, his brother and him, and he wanted her all to himself. When Jack and Benny mocked Oz's disability, intentionally or not, while playing hide-and-seek in the sewers, Oz locked them both in an overflow tunnel and left them in the rainwater. Both Francis and Oz knew the truth, but never spoke about it. When Sofia found out the lie on which Francis and Oz's relationship was built, she decided to use it to really destroy him from the inside. Salvatore Maroni kidnapped Oz and tried to seize control of Bliss' business, but failed miserably and died of cardiac arrest. It seemed like a victory for Oz, but shortly after, Sofia sent a car full of explosives to the headquarters and had Detective Marcus Wise help him kidnap Oz to punish him. Did Sofia's plan succeed? Francis wanted Rex Calabrese to kill Oz

Episode 8 began with a message from Dr. Julian Rush's hypnotic flashback. A rather heartbreaking conversation between Francis and Rex Calabrese was revealed. After Jack and Benny Oz died, Rex visited the Cobb family to make sure Francis, who had worked so hard for him for so long, was safe. Frances told Rex that Oz was the one who killed her sons and that she can't get over the fact that Oz lied to her all this time. Rex gave Frances two options: she could turn a blind eye and let Oz continue on his villainous path and become a notorious gangster like Rex, or she could allow Rex to trick and kill Oz. Now, Frances was obviously going to allow Rex to put an end to Oz. So she took him to Monroe's house for a final dance and then left him in Rex's care. But when the little guy promised his mother that he would give her everything she wanted, including a city view from his own penthouse, Frances changed her decision and let Oz live, and the rest is history. After the flashback was over, a short scene was seen in which the gangsters attack Oz, assuming that he died in the Crown Point explosion and that their agreement doesn't stand anymore. This infuriated Vic, who accused the gang leaders of being cowards and traitors. This season availbale on Flixtor video.
